[attr="class","icg2"] SWEATING BULLETS, not so much his theme song to end all theme songs, but I heard this for the first time today, and? Oh my gosh?  My first thought from what little lyrics I could understand was, “Oh my gosh, it's Nikki”, and my second impression after looking at the lyrics was, “oH MY GOSH, IT'S NIKKI.” The song appears to be from the point of view of someone who's not all that right in the head and carries/has carried out unspeakable acts without being able to remember exactly what they were post-crime – and gee, would you look at that? Sounds like Nikki, what with the fact that he was insane enough to end up in a mental hospital and was forced to kill people in a state that left him without any memory of the killings in question. One of the take-aways is that Dipper actually thinks of himself as a misfit, and thus alienated. He asks his great-uncle to call him by name after the old man specifically informs him that weirdness (and, by default, other's people thoughts on what is "normal") need not imply shame or self-doubt. It just makes them who they are. His reaction to feeling connected to his great-uncle—whom he deeply wants to connect with—is bringing up what his actual name is. This makes sense because they only recently met, but also cements that his real name is. Well, his real name and it's important. It's what Dipper uses to attempt to create that bond with his great-uncle, who comes from a broken family and has been missing for decades. So, you know.
